The Sketch of a Tree

I was about to go to sleep, but something just happened that made me smile.
As a result, I am here on my laptop writing about it
and drinking hot cocoa with marshmallows.  Mmmm.

I really want to post this before going to bed.
Here's what happened...

Earlier yesterday I saw my younger brother's white board lying around.  Written on it were a couple of words that nearly took up all the space.  I saw - however - that there was just enough space in the upper right-hand corner for me to make a quick sketch.  In less than two minutes I had sketched a tree.

I stared at it for a while.  "Not bad for a sketch," I thought to myself.  I left the white board lying around and forgot all about it.

Throughout the rest of the day, my younger brother dished out a couple mildly-mean remarks at me.  He does that sometimes.  Apparently I'm a fat person, lazy and ugly, etc.  Maybe he just enjoys kidding around and means nothing by his criticisms, but it is difficult to tell sometimes.  It bothers me, because I want him to look up to me, not look down on me.

I was just about to go to sleep when I saw the white board next to my younger brother's bed.  He had erased everything on it...

Except for my sketch.

A smile spread across my face when I saw that.  I quickly found my camera and snapped a picture of it.  This sketch is worth remembering.

Maybe my little brother looks up to me after all.

The little sketch I made on my younger brother's white board.

after all... your lil' bro despite of the the harsh criticism that means nothing but mostly difficult to distinguish most of the times has left a sweet side of him for you. so touching.

I'm in love with this sketch- i could never do that on a white board!

It is my experience that younger siblings generally look up to the older ones, but don't always like to admit it (like myself and my older, louder, intimidating sister...always wanted to be like her, rarely admit it).

This was sweet ... another smile for another day.

And what a sweet way to find out that your younger brother looks up to you.

If he thinks you're "fat", I'd hate to think what I am:
........... I'm soooo fat; when I hang around the house - - - - - I hang AROUND the house.

Five hours of sleep and I wake up to nine awesome comments : )
Hopefully it's enough inspiration to stay away haha

@ Pat
Sweeter than chocolates.
thanks for coming back Pat and commenting.

@ Aryan
Sweeter than cupcakes haha.
glad you found this touching.

@ Panicking Girl
It's easy haha. Just don't panic when you're doing it *wink*

@ lladybugg
You seem like a wise person. I just hope I'm not intimidating!

@ ^travis
thanks. It was sweeter than chocolates LOL

@ naturgesetz
yep, I thought my younger brother would erase it for sure

@ Luke Plus
Awe, thanks Luke. I don't think I'm that great at drawing... just enjoy doing it once in a while.

@ David Allen Waters
that would be nice wouldn't it?
:)

@ FOGGY
my little brother used to be the chubby one when he was growing up. probably helps his reason for calling me fat. and don't worry about hanging... my dad does it too haha

I doubt you are... she suffers from what we like to call "little big person syndrom" haha. She's this tiny little woman with a HUGE, excitable personality and an even louder attitude. :P

I dont know you but so far you seem pretty approachable

he does look up to you... my younger brother is oftentimes i thought is mean in his criticisms of me but when times of trouble, he'll come to me saying, i know you are the best one who can help me... and i love it. made me feel like the "KUYA" (older brother) to him...

Obviously, if he calls you those things, he does not have eyes. ;)

And that sketch is amazing...it's like you can see the tree moving.

Thank you for sharing. :)

A touching piece, a beautiful drawing.
Thanks for sharing.

As to your brother, pretty cool guy, I'd say. Even with his "abuse". My brothers drove me crazy. Same sorts of things, then they'd do something touching and I'd almost remember that I loved them.

Peace <3

Mm... Hot chocolate...
Anyway, that's definitely hear-warming (The part about your brother and the sketch, not the hot chocolate). And I love the sketch.

@ Writer
Your first sentence makes me LOL whenver I read it
super funny shizz right there haha

@ Jay M.
Jay, I could read your comments all day. I really wanna hear more of your stories, like childhood memories and the sorts.
And yes, all my siblings are very special to me in their own unique way.

@ Sean
I love that exclamation mark!

@ Drizzle
Oh yes, I think I'll have more hot chocolate tonight hehe
And we all make mistakes. Hakuna Matata. I didn't even notice it when I first read your comment. I only noticed it after reading your second comment haha

@ Sojim
Warts hehe
The love must be strong to endure warts that's for sure :)
And everyone should head to Sojim's blog... good stuff there

Excellent! Amazing how some of the simplest things are indeed important to others!

What a nice story. Younger brothers can't possibly admit that they look up to you, that would be showing weakness! But I think you're quite right in that the non erasure is a sign of admiration in you. The tree is very cool.
